(Cleveland) Nights Like These with Lucero

Concert photos and recap of Lucero and L.A. Edwards at The Beachland Ballroom on Thursday, October 27th 2022.

With three dates remaining in their fall 2022 tour, Lucero is winding down only to gear up for the February release of their upcoming studio album, the appropriate and ironically titled, ‘Should’ve Learned By Now’. In-between Detroit and Kalamazoo, the band made a stop in Cleveland at the Beachland Ballroom where they debuted several songs off the new record, including the first single “One Last F.U.”, as well as fan favorites such as “Coffin Nails,” “Nights Like These,” “Sweet Little Thing,” and “Back in Ohio.” Ben Nichols, who now calls Ohio home, is a personable and no effs given kind of frontman. The dynamic he shared with the crowd was refreshing, as he threw back shots bought by fans in the front row, and deviated from the setlist taking song requests, making this show even more of a one-of-a-kind experience.

L.A. Edwards, a roots rock/Laurel Canyon style singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Julian, CA, opened the night with his band of brothers, Jay and Jerry, and special guest Landon Pigg on guitar (which was a personal highlight of my evening, as he was Elliott Page’s on-screen love interest in the 2009 movie Whip It, where the entire story is built on the idea of being your own hero). The band will continue to tour in support of The White Buffalo throughout the month of December, followed by opening for Lucinda Williams in Europe this January.
